Privacy policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

At Kovoy, privacy isn't a feature: it's the principle the whole product is designed around. This page explains what data we collect, what we use it for, and what we can never see, even if we wanted to.

What end-to-end means for Kovoy

Your private space (chat, sticky notes, special dates, mood tracker) is encrypted on your device before it ever leaves it. The key is built by combining your account and your partner's; our servers only store and carry that already-encrypted content, with no way to read it.

What we collect

Account data: your email address, your password (never in plain text, stored as an irreversible hash), and your timezone.

Your private space's content: end-to-end encrypted, as explained above.

Technical metadata needed to operate the service: timestamps of your actions, and security logs to prevent unauthorized access.

Messages you send us directly, for example through the feedback option inside the app: our team receives those in plain text, because the point is for us to read them.

If that message reports a bug or proposes an improvement, it also includes technical information about your device (platform, app version, device type, and screen resolution) to help us reproduce the issue.

What we see, beyond the encrypted content

Your email, your hashed password, and your timezone, as explained above.

Your profile photo, name, birthdate, and gender: we need those in the clear to show them throughout the app without decrypting anything constantly. Same goes for whether you're online or when you last were, visible only to the two of you and never to anyone else.

From your special dates, only the type, date, and icon: we need those to sort them and show your pinned one on Home without decrypting anything. The title you write is encrypted.

Preview of links shared in chat: to show a title and image, we fetch that URL briefly and cache it for up to 24 hours, without tying it to your account or your partner's.

Your plan and how much storage you're using.

We never see the content of your messages, sticky notes, mood tracker, or your milestone titles.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data or your private space's content to anyone.

We don't show ads inside the product.

We don't use your content to train AI models.

We don't track your activity inside the app: Kovoy carries no analytics or tracker at all.

This page's analytics

This public page (the one you're reading now) uses Umami, a cookie-free analytics tool, to understand where our traffic comes from and what language our visitors speak. It's exclusive to this landing page, never used inside the product.

Who we share information with

We work with providers that help us run the service: hosting and content delivery, and transactional email. They only get what's necessary to make the service work, never for commercial purposes.

We never share your encrypted content in a format anyone could read, because we can't either.

How long we keep your information

For as long as your account is active. If you leave your private space, the key that protected that content can no longer be reconstructed: your encrypted content becomes inaccessible immediately, both to you and to your former partner.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything meaningful, we'll let you know before it takes effect.
